Mental Health First Aid Course

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) courses teach participants how to assist people who are developing a mental health problem, experiencing a worsening of an existing mental health problem or in a mental health crisis, until appropriate professional help is received or the crisis resolves.

All courses are delivered by Accredited Mental Health First Aid Instructors.

There are five core Mental Health First Aid courses available that have been developed to teach participants how to assist people within specific population groups.

After completing a core Mental Health First Aid course, participants are eligible to complete an online assessment to become an Accredited Mental Health First Aider. Accreditation lasts for a period of 3 years.

There are also a range of specialised Mental Health First Aid courses available to teach participants how to help someone experiencing a specific crisis or situation.

Tuning into Teens Course

Tuning in to Teens™ is a parenting program developed by Monash University and the University of Melbourne that focuses on emotions and is designed to assist parents and carers to establish stronger relationships with their teenage children.

All courses are delivered by Accredited Tuning in to Teens Facilitators.

The program provides parents and carers with a greater understanding of their teen's emotional experiences while teaching specific skills that can assist in being supportive, empathic and staying connected with the young person.

It further aims to improve parent's and carer’s emotional awareness, regulation and communication style and provide them with an opportunity to reflect on their own emotion socialisation experience.

Tuning in to Teens™ aims to prevent problems developing and to enhance emotional and behavioural functioning.
